VBS Kingdom Rock! Where Kids Stand Strong for GodMonday, June 10th – Friday, June 14th
VBS is just a few weeks away!! We are in full planning mode and have many ways you can help. We will have a table in the narthex until VBS with kid registration information and volunteer forms and a bulletin board with ways you can help donate or lend items towards VBS.
Our biggest need is volunteers to be leaders and assistants for each of our 12 crews of kids. Couples, a mom or dad and an older child, two friends or many other combinations of people, all make great leader teams for our crews ~ Why would you want to be a Crew leader or co-leader? You can dress up like a king or queen, princess or knight! Eat great snacks! Play games! Watch EPIC bible adventures! Sing catchy songs that stay in your head! Watch kids get excited about science experiments! And most importantly, build relationships with kids ages kindergarten to 5th grade and help them build a relationship with God ~ What’s better than all of that?
The decorations are kingdom themed (think king and queen, princesses, knights, goblets, armor, shields, tiaras, princess hats, or anything castle or royal kingdom themed). If you have any dress-up costumes or items with this theme, consider lending them to us for the week!
Items you can be saving for us: Empty paper towel tubes, 16oz. empty water bottles w/ lids, paper grocery bags, newspaper, battery operated candles, plastic greenery. *New* squirrel and chipmunk stuffed animals! There will be a labeled, plastic tub in the narthex for collecting these items (please label any items you would like returned to you!).
For any questions, please contact Holly Royston at sulajune@yahoo.com or 789-4334.Updated on 05/15/2013 [top]
Adopt a CounselorEach year several college students come to Juneau and Haines, AK to serve as counselors at Echo Ranch Bible Camp and Rainbow Glacier Camp. We want to welcome them to Alaska and share our hospitality by giving them care packages!
Would you like to help? Jessica will be in Smith Hall in between services to answer questions and to assign counselors. Pick a student and pack a box OR Give to the cause (write a note, donate new items). Return to Chapel by Sunday, May 19th in Smith Hall. Questions call: Jessica Hoffman (907) 723-0090.
List of suggested items for packing boxes: personal note, candy, drink mix (Gatorade, lemonade, etc.), warm socks, pens, pencils, markers, postage stamps, nail polish for girls, bandana, water balloons, snack food. Be creative! Make it personal!Updated on 05/15/2013 [top]
